Abstract

Duobinary and DQPSK modulation formats are considered as the best candidates for deployment of 40 Gb/s technology on existing 10 Gb/s WDM transmission systems. We show here that DQPSK modulation format is more adapted for mixed 10/40-Gb/s WDM transmission on SMF whereas duobinary is particularly efficient on LEAF™ fiber.
