Photonic crystals (PC) in diamond: Cavity Q – Mode volume influence on the design

Abstract

We present a qualitative analysis of mode volume influence on a planar PC cavity Q in diamond. The results are supported by 3D FDTD calculations on double heterostructures (DHs). The highest Q≈135,000 is demonstrated.
