Highly Efficient Fiber Wavelength Converter Based on a Passive PM-IM Converter Filter for High Capacity Systems

Abstract

A phase-to-intensity converter filter is proposed for ultra-high bit-rate (160 Gbit/s) fiber wavelength converters. The converter reaches output peak powers above the input continuous wave power, without optical amplification. The filter physical implementation is discussed.
