Femtosecond light filaments: robust “tracks” through the atmosphere?

Abstract

The interaction of ultrashort laser pulses with opaque droplets in the atmosphere is examined numerically. (3 + 1)-dimensional numerical simulations show that the filament is rapidly rebuilt with minimal loss of energy.
