SBS and nonlinearities reduction of analog optical links via polarization modulation

Abstract

We propose using analog polarization modulation(PolM) to tackle SBS and nonlinearities due to amplitude modulation in analog optical links, e.g. HFC systems. Experimental results show that SBS threshold is improved compared to amplitude modulation(AM) systems.
