Active stabilization of a passively modelocked, grazing- incidence Yb:YAG slab laser

Abstract

Passive modelocking of a quasi-CW Yb:YAG laser based on a grazing-incidence geometry is demonstrated. Active stabilization via intracavity loss modulation is essential to prevent damage to the saturable absorber by undesirable Q-switching of the laser.
