Nonlinear switching in a symmetrical Sagnac interferometer including a quarter-wave plate

Abstract

We demonstrate experimentally that nonlinear switching can be obtained from a fiber Sagnac interferometer including a symmetrical coupler, highly-twisted fiber and a quarter-wave plate. Experimental results confirm previously reported theoretical predictions.
