Abstract

Launch polarizations excite different modes in commercial-grade multi-mode fiber. By controlling input polarization and monitoring output eye-diagram, 40 Gb/s transmission over 140m 62.5/125μm fiber is demonstrated using return-to-zero format with readily available single-mode transceivers.
