N-fold symmetric crossed gratings as gain flattening filters

Abstract

We present N-fold symmetric crossed fiber gratings as devices for gain equalization. The fiber grating parameters are optimized to equalize the gain profile of an erbium doped fiber amplifier to within 0.07 dB.
