The 80.3% of slope efficiency has been achieved in 1-µm cw laser oscillation by Nd:GdVO4: this is the highest efficiency in Nd3+ lasers. Spectroscopic properties of Nd:GdVO4 compared to those of Nd:YVO4 were also discussed.
