Radio frequency noise of femto- and picosecond pulse generated supercontinuum spectra

Abstract

We evaluate radio-frequency noise generated during supercontinuum generation in photonic crystal fibers. Dramatically reduced noise is observed when seeding with picosecond pulses compared to femtosecond pulses for the same generated bandwidth in the infrared region.
