Linewidth enhancement factor of a type-II quantum-cascade laser

Abstract

We directly measured the optical gain, refractive index change, and the linewidth enhancement factor of a type-II quantum-cascade laser. We obtained very low linewidth enhancement factor of 0.83 near threshold.
