Ultrashort optical pulse generated by four-wave Raman mixing in deuterium cooled at 77 K

Abstract

A 100-fs pulse is focused into deuterium cooled at 77 K to generate rotational stimulated Raman emission. By phase locking in the process of four-wave Raman mixing, the laser pulsewidth was reduced to 20-40 fs.
