Threshold power dependence on noise in passive mode locking

Abstract

The dependence of the passive mode locking threshold power on noise in the laser cavity is measured. The results are in accordance with the Gordon-Fischer phase transition theory for passive mode locking of lasers based on statistical mechanics treatment of many interacting laser modes.
