Polarization-independent wavelength conversion with a gain using two-pump fiber parametric amplification without idler spectral broadening

Abstract

A simple scheme for a highly efficient polarization-independent wavelength converter utilizing fiber parametric amplification is demonstrated. We use two orthogonally polarized pumps, which are BPSK-modulated to obtain a broadband parametric gain without idler spectral broadening.
