Integrated semiconductor fluorescence sensor for portable bio-medical diagnostics

Abstract

A VCSEL, PIN photodiode and emission filter are monolithically integrated to create a near IR fluorescence sensor. High power VCSEL operation, low detector dark current, and high linearity photodetection are demonstrated, suitable for portable biomedical diagnostic systems.
