Abstract

In WDM systems employing cascaded semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA), the SOA-induced crosstalk can be reduced by locating SOAs where fiber dispersion is compensated to different degrees. The residual dispersion mitigates the SOA gain fluctuation.
