Temperature profile measurement in high power optical fiber components using a distributed fiber sensor

Abstract

We demonstrate a new method for measuring temperature distribution changes caused by coupling a high power laser beam into a multimode fiber and by splicing of two multimode fibers. The measurement technique is based on interrogating a distributed sensor implemented using a fiber Bragg grating.
