Distributed optical fiber sensor using Brillouin scattering

Abstract

This paper describes novel optical fiber sensors designed to monitor civil structures. The developed sensors employ Brillouin scattering and have a different structure from communication cable. These sensors are effective for detecting strain in concrete and soil structures.
