Abstract
Transverse patterning of periodic gratings for quasi-phase-matching (QPM) has been used to increase the tuning range of devices (through fanned gratings),1 to shape the amplitude profile of an interacting beam,2 and to create two-dimensional periodic QPM structures (nonlinear photonic crystals)3,4 for efficient noncollinear mixing.
