Abstract

The photo-EMF based detection configurations are promising for some important practical applications, including laser vibrometry, laser ultrasonic detection, profilometry of rough surfaces, distance measurements, etc.1 Effective detection of relatively fast phase modulation in presence of slow environmental phase drifts and speckle-like structure of detected signal wave is ensured by these adaptive devices. As far as we know, influence of additional frequency offset ΔΩ between signal and reference laser beams is not investigated in details by now. Some experimental results were reported in2 for GaAs photo-EMF detectors utilized without external dc bias.
