Abstract
Widely tunable mid-IR lasers are useful for broadband spectroscopic applications. Grating- tuned external cavity shown ~300-nm tuning for 4-μm Sb-based lasers,1 and up to 88 nm at 80 K2 for 4.6- and 5.2-μm InP-based quantum cascade (QC) lasers.3,4 This paper reports studies of wavelength tuning and control with external grating that shown a wide wavelength tuning range (~120 nm) for temperatures from 80-243 K for 5.1 μm QC laser.
