Abstract
Optical Kerr effect is the generation of birefringence by strong pump intensity, which result in changes in complex refractive index and polarization. Due to strong intensity in Raman scattering, Raman-fnduced Kerr Effect (RIKE) was observed.2 The principles of RIKE are also applied to Brillouin-induced Kerr Effect (BIKEJ The observed Brillouin spectra exhibited the resonance at the acoustic phonon resonance in CS2.3 In this paper, we extended BIKE to single mode fiber (SMFJ After confirming the induced-birefringence in SMF via homodyne configuration, we investigated the phase matching effect on BIKE in dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF)
