Abstract
The polarization mode dispersion (PMD) emulator is a useful tool to design high-performance optical systems affected by PMD or to test a PMD compensation technique. This device describes the optic fiber as the concatenation of several birefringent elements (polarization maintaining fibers2 or birefringent crystals1,3) coupled by opportunely rotation angles.1−3
