Abstract
High repetition rate (100 GHz and above) short optical pulses are of interest for future time-division multiplexing optical communication systems, optical sensors, optical switches and optical computing.1,2 The ability to adjust the repetition rate of a soliton pulse train generator over discrete periods (e.g. 100 GHz, 150 GHz, 200 GHz, etc.) can be of interest for many of these applications. In this paper, we demonstrate a novel tunable dual-wavelength fiber ring laser for the generation of optical pulse trains with adjustable pulse train periods.
