Abstract

There is a growing demand for affordable, compact, room temperature operational and broadly tunable mid-infrared laser sources for use in a variety of remote sensing applications. The most impressive results have been obtained using Cr2+:ZnSe crystals.1−5 Cr:ZnS1,2,6,7 and especially Gr:CdS have yet remained barely studied. In this paper we extend our effort to develop novel high optical density and high quality chromium doped ZnS, CdS, and ZnSe microchip laser crystals.
