Abstract
Ferroelectric domain engineering in lithium nio-bate (LiNbO3) is used extensively for quasi-phase-matched (QPM ) nonlinear optical interactions which utilize the d33 nonlinear coeflicient.1 Commonly used domain inversion methods in bulk materials can routinely produce periods of a few µm in thick wafers (~ 500 µm ) but domain spreading effectively reduces the domain grating quality when periods of ~ 1 µm are attempted.
