Abstract

Wavelength conversion will play a key roll in future wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks; it makes WDM networks flexible and prevents the blocking problems. Although several wavelength converters exist, problems such as critical operating conditions have prevented them from being widely deployed. In this paper, we propose another type of wavelength conversion with wide tuning range based on optical time-gating of supercontinuum (SC) light source.
