Abstract

Since the first experimental observation of tunable UV laser action from a solid-state laser material under direct UV pumping based on the vibronically-broadened rare-earth ion interconfigurational 5d ⇒ 4f transitions, it is well known that the pumping-induced solarization, also known as color center formation (CC-formation), normally takes place in Ce3+-activated laser crystals.
