Abstract
Optical frequency mixers based on annealed proton exchanged (APE) waveguides in periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) have been used to perform many useful functions in communications systems, including wavelength conversion, dispersion compensation, and optical gating.1 These experiments involve interaction of a weak signal with a strong pump to produce outputs at the sum or difference frequency.
