Generation of an ultra-broad supercontinuum in tapered fibres

Abstract

A 1100 nm wide UV/visible/NIR supercontinuum was generated in a tapered optical fibre of 1.8 microns diameter and 90 mm length, from low energy (3.2 nJ) femtosecond pulses emitted by a Ti:sapphire laser.
