Abstract

Format conversion between different transmission schemes, such as between RZ format and NRZ format, may become an important operation for future optical networks. We predicted the existence of pitchfork bifurcation bistability through gain saturation of laser diodes which has a major speed advantage over the conventional s-shaped bistability.1
