Abstract

The basic problem of building a reliable and practical ASE source for interferometric fiberoptic gyroscope applications (IFOG) is to achieve a compact, durable, and thermally stable single-mode device with high ASE output power. A candidate for such a device is an erbium-doped passive alumina (Al2O3) ridge waveguide at 1530 nm.
