High-power dual-rod Yb:YAG laser

Abstract

We recently described a high-brightness single-rod Yb:YAG power oscillator using a hollow lens duct for pump delivery.1 The hollow lens duct provides increased flexibility in resonator design, because the laser rod can be located at any point. Here, we describe a higher power hollow-lens-duct system utilizing two Yb:YAG rods for bifocusing compensation as shown schematically in Fig. 1.
