Abstract

High power/energy Q-switched 2-micron holmium lasers are useful for a variety of scientific and technical applications. Requirements for laser radar, ranging, and remote sensing can be fulfilled with the eye-safe 2-micron wavelength or wavelength shifted with the use of optical parametric oscillators (OPOs).
