Abstract

In active mode locking of a laser, there exists a dispersion-limited, maximum lockable bandwidth of a Gaussian pulse for a given modulation strength,1 where fm and Δm are the modulation frequency and modulation index, respectively, and k″Pm characterizes the round trip group velocity dispersion.
