Abstract

For the transmission of a transform-limited pulse over a distance z in a nonlinear dispersive fiber, the rms pulsewidth σ(z) grows linearly with z/Ld when Ld << Ln (linear limit) and linearly with z/LdLn when Ld > Ln (strong nonlinearity), where Ld and Ln are the dispersion and nonlinear lengths, respectively.1
