Ultrafast optical logic gate using a semiconductor laser amplifier operating at transparency in a loop mirror

Abstract

By biasing an InGaAsP semiconductor laser amplifier (SLA) at transparency current in a loop-mirror configuration, we demonstrate an ultrafast logic gate, which has 2-ps recovery time and 4-pJ switching energy.
