Abstract

In our laser development research, we have focused on crystals of olivine structure analog to forsterite (Cr:Mg2SiO4), the first tunable solid-state laser that employs Cr4+ as a lasing ion,1,2 because these crystals are among the few materials that exhibit strong Cr4+ luminescence.
