Abstract

To date, all reported femtosecond optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) have been cavity length-matched to their pump lasers, primarily because of difficulties in achieving the tight focusing required for short, highrepetition-rate cavities, This paper describes a synchronously pumped OPO with a novel and simple cavity configuration that ideally lends itself to operation at harmonics of the pump laser cavity frequency, producing a high repetition rate source.
