Abstract
High speed, cw optical phase conjugation (OPC) with high-gain was recently demonstrated in sodium vapor1 using coherent population trapping2 (CPT). In this paper we demonstrate the direct application of this OPC, based on CPT, to correct fast temporal and spatial aberrations produced by a turbulent helium gas jet in air, driven at an acoustic resonance. The idea of turbulence aberration correction with use of phase conjugation is well known.3 However, to our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of both high speed and high gain aberration correction with use of low-intensity cw pump laser beams.
