Abstract

High speed sources of ultrashort optical pulses are expected to be in great demand in the future for applications such as all-optical switching and ultrahigh capacity transmission systems, whether they are based on optical time- domain multiplexing (OTDM), wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), or a combination of these two techniques.
