Grating formation in multiple quantum well optically addressed spatial light modulators

Abstract

Optically addressed spatial light modulators based on multiple quantum well (MQW) devices have demonstrated promising results for optical processing applications.1 While the difraction performance of these devices has been generally characterized, a detailed transport model to describe device operation and to help optimize performance has not yet been developed. In this paper we describe the results of a new numerical device simulator in modeling grating formation and in determining She roles of various transport and geometrical effects in limiting device performance.
