Abstract

Dispersion of optical fiber is shown to reduce the complexity of optically controlled phased-array antenna (OCPAA) system1−3 For example, we have demonstrated a multiwavelength OCPAA system using only one mode-locked semiconductor laser and one single-mode dispersive fiber.2 To further enhance the resolution of the antenna scan angle with limited number of optical wavelength channel, we demonstrate here a programmable-dispersion matrix (PDM) to be implemented in a multiwavelength OCPAA system.
