Abstract

The accuracy of current Global Circulation Models to access the impact of greenhouse warming is partially limited by the lack of accurate vertically resolved water vapor distribution profiles, particularly in the upper troposphere. To provide this critically needed data, several research groups are in the process of developing solid-state water vapor DIAL systems with the eventual goal of deploying these systems on satellites to provide global coverage of water vapor content.
