Abstract

Optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) of BBO or KTP pumped by intense ns laser pulses are powerful sources of coherent, continuously tunable radiation.1 Due to their wide tuning range, high energies (100-200 mJ), high efficiencies (30-50%), and their solid-state character, OPOs have long been recognized as potential light sources for atmospheric remote sensing.2
