Initial energy measurements on the upgraded OMEGA laser

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Considerable has been expended in the design of the OMEGA upgrade laser system to ensure that the on-target energy uniformity and, ultimately, the power uniformity is very high (1–2% rms energy uniformity on target). This requires not only uniform and repeatable output from the laser itself but also matched performance from the frequency-conversion crystals. It also places considerable demands on the energy-measurement system.
