Abstract
Further research on a novel optical-fiber pH-sensing technique recently reported by the authors is presented. This technique offers several advantages over other optical techniques based on changes in absorption or on the fluorescence of pH indicators. These advantages include a large linear range (pH 3 to pH 9), higher sensitivity (0.8 dB/pH), and, more importantly, immunity to variations in ionic strength of the monitored medium.
