Abstract

A nonthermal, anisotropic velocity distribution of photofragments results when a molecule is dissociated. Provided that the velocity distribution is separable, the thermalization process can be characterized by a relaxation of the mean velocity (characteristic time Tv) and a directional relaxation (Tb).1
