Abstract

Improved eyesafe laser transmitter performance obtained by using U2+:CaF2 and Co2+:YAG as a passive Q-switch material in Er:glass lasers has recently been reported.1,2 In addition to passive Q-switching, technology developments such as laser diode pumping and new Er:glass compositions have increased interest in eyesafe Er:glass lasers.
